Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After a 3.5-hour delay due to soggy court conditions from some morning showers, the No. 14 Nova Southeastern women's tennis team bounced back from their opening-day loss with a 6-3 upset win over the sixth-ranked Flagler Saints at the NSU Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

DOUBLES
  • Flagler took its first and only lead of the day when Paloma Martinez and Anika Nissen defeated Eva Agasse and Alex Yeardley, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot.
  • The Sharks, however, quickly tied the match 1-1 when Ana Navas and Isabella Lowrey claimed victory over Alessandra Traub and Sofia Vagaja, 8-3, at No. 2.
  • Daniella Obando and Andrea Ivanovic gave the Sharks the lead shortly after with an 8-4 win over Lizanne Jinkertz and Camila Ramazzini in the top-flight, 8-4.
SINGLES
  • The Sharks jumped out to a quick 4-1 advantage after claiming victories in the No. 3 and No. 1 slots. Obando notched her first collegiate win following a 6-0, 6-1 win over Felicitas Runkel, while Navas grabbed her first 'W' in a Shark uniform with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over No. 25 Jinkertz.
  • NSU would capture match point and get revenge from last year's loss to the Saints with Lowrey's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Martinez.
  • Despite the match having already been clinched, the Saints still played on, taking the No. 4 and No. 6 flights.
  • Like Navas, Ivanovic would collect her first win in a Shark uniform, as the Lamar transfer put the icing on the cake with a three-set win over Ramazzini.
NEAGLE'S NOTES
"It was a nice bounce-back win today," said head coach Doug Neagle. "We are truly trying to play one match at a time and only focus on the next team ahead of us on our schedule. The girls did a great job of that."
